TRT and HRT, is it right for me?

TRT and HRT,

is it right for me?

2 min read

As of recent you have probably seen an onslaught of medical advertising campaigns targeted around populations who may be candidates for TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) and/or HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). Since HRT includes TRT, while also including a broader array of interventions, for the purpose of this post, the intervention as a whole will be referred to as HRT.

What is HRT you may ask? In essence, HRT is simply using therapeutic hormonal dosages to optimize your hormonal profile in such a way that helps provide symptom resolution and potential performance optimization for the patient. In order to implement the therapy, typically a physician will request a comprehensive blood panel to identify where to intervene and in what manner.

Next you may be asking is HRT right for you and even if it is, is it something you are ready to commit to? First, you need to see if you have symptoms consistent with low testosterone, low thyroid output, etc. If so and your bloodwork warrants intervention, you then need to decide if you are willing to commit to a therapy that will most likely be lifelong.

Is HRT safe? This topic is somewhat controversial, so it is important to do your research first. At Acuo, we feel that HRT is not only safe, but health promoting if implemented correctly. This does not mean that HRT is without risk or should be taken lightly, but a suboptimal hormonal state comes with inherent risks and often times a decreased quality of life.

Understandably this can be an intimidating complex topic. If you need help with getting through these questions before consulting with your physician, reach out today so that Acuo can help you.
